Prelicensing Course
Grades / Student Progress: To be eligible to take the prelicensing course final exam a student must have an overall average of 70% on all in class quizzes and have met the minimum attendance requirements discussed in the next section. If eligible to take the final exam, a student must score 80% or higher on the final exam to receive a completion certificate. Each student receiving a score of 75%– 79% on the end of course exam or any student who misses the final exam will be allowed one retake of the exam. This retake must be scheduled for a future date within 90 days of course completion date. The actual date for the second exam will be set by the school instructor. If a retake is required, student will be given a different exam. If an eligible student does not retake the exam within the 90 days, the student will not receive a completion certificate and must pay full tuition if the student elects to enroll in another prelicensing course at this school.
Any student scoring below 75% or who is not eligible to take the final exam due to an insufficient quiz average may sit through the course again at a cost of $275.00 (plus the cost of the book if the book has changed since your class ended) if they attend one of the next two starting classes. This rule also applies to any student failing their retake exam.
Postlicensing Courses
Students attending any of the three 30-hour Postlicensing Course students will be required to pass an exam with a score of 75% or higher and satisfactorily complete all class and homework assignments. Each student will be allowed to retake a failed exam or make up a missed exam within 90-days of the final exam. The retake or make-up exam will be a different exam.
Attendance: Each student attending either the Broker Prelicensing Course or any of the three Broker Postlicensing Courses will be required to attend at least 90% of all scheduled classroom hours. Each student is encouraged to attend all classroom hours, but the 90% is required in order to be eligible for the end of course exam.
Student Conduct: All students are required to respect the other students during classroom hours. Talking or behavior that would interfere with other students’ ability to concentrate will not be tolerated. Snacking or drinking will be allowed during classroom instruction so long as it does not disturb the other students. Any student that the instructor feels is being disruptive may be asked to leave the class. Cell phones will be permitted if they are kept on silent or vibrate. Students will not be permitted to take phone calls in the classroom. If a student needs to take a call he/she must step outside to do so. The student will not receive credit for attendance for any time spent outside on the phone. There will be no texting or messaging allowed in class. Laptops will be permitted if used to take notes. If the instructor finds that a student is using a laptop for any other purpose the student will be asked to remove the laptop from the classroom.
Tuition and Fees: The cost of the Broker Prelicensing Course is $425.00. This cost includes the books required and all tuition costs pertaining to this course. The textbook will be issued in advance only when a minimum $225.00 deposit has been received. The balance will be due by the end of the second week of class. The director of the school must approve all payment arrangements. The school does accept Visa & Master Card as well as debit cards, checks and cash. The fee for a returned check will be $25.00 and must be paid in cash or certified funds. We will not take future checks from anyone who has written a bad check in the past. The three 30-hour Broker Postlicensing Courses will cost $250.00 each plus the cost of the Real Estate Manual required for the course. If all three courses are taken prior to the manual being changed, the student will only be required to pay for the manual once as the same manual will be used for all three courses. Students for all courses must be enrolled no later than 7 days prior to the first day of class or there will be an additional $20.00 late enrollment fee. If a class must be cancelled due to inclement weather or some other small emergency beyond the school’s control, the class will be extended to permit completion of the course.
Tuition / Fees Refunds: There will be no refunds on tuition. Jacksonville Real Estate Academy agrees to transfer students to a future course within 3 months of original enrollment. A student may transfer to the next starting class without penalty if student notifies the school of this request prior to the first day of class. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If a student withdraws after the course has started they will not be eligible for any refund. If a student has an outstanding balance and chooses to terminate the course prior to its completion, the remaining balance will still be due. If the course offered is postponed for more than two (2) weeks, should meeting days/times be changed, or should the course be cancelled, the student shall be entitled to a full refund of the tuition minus the cost of the text book, which is $25 for prelicensing and $50 for postlicensing, unless the text book is returned unmarked.
